Hello, It’s nice to meet you

My name is Sarah Allen, the hands and heart behind Medicine Horse, Natural Remedies.

My Journey working with plants began in 2016 when I was diagnosed with chronic lymes disease. After a year of unsuccessfully managing symptoms, a friend introduced me to some of her home grown natural remedies with elderberries and nettles. For the first time in years, I experienced a noticeable relief from the pain that had plagued my body on the daily. Something within me lit up, and I knew I needed to dig deeper. A year later I had undergone a complete transformation with my health with the support of a diet centered around eating locally sourced, low inflammation foods, regular exercise, extensive therapy, and of course, the support of the plants.

3 years later of slowly building the foundations of plant knowledge, I got my second chronic disease diagnosis: Endometriosis. In 2020 I had surgery where they found the endo growth to be extensive. The surgery was far more painful than they had planned and I was bed-ridden for a month. Their plan of treatment involved extensive homorome drugs and more surgeries all which felt wrong to me. I had hope that I would again be able to find healing more naturally, so that is what i pursued. 6 months later I found exactly what I needed, again with the support of the plants. Coupled with intense therapy work and physical nourishment, I walked out of 2020 pain free and have remained so since.

it was then I knew that the knowledge I had gained in my experiences, and the gift of healing I had been given was meant to be shared. I slowly started to work more directly with native plants especially, as they contain incredible amounts of medicine for a wide number of ailments. The more I learned, the more I saw how the Earth provides everything we need for our mind, bodies, and spirits to live in harmony.

Autumn 2022 is when Copper entered my life. The first time we locked eyes I knew I was in love. He responded to me immediately, and we began our relationship exploring the trails of Arkansas surrounded by friends. He was quick to respond to my most subtle commands, incredibly playful and affectionate. Over time he showed me his expertise on the trail, and a trust between us formed. He helped me grow in my confidence as a leader, helped me become more sure of myself and my path, and he opened up my heart to experience such generous love as I had not known before. Together we rode from then on out, growing in comfort and love for each other. We started hosting horse camps in Oklahoma and Arkansas sharing the love of horses with experienced riders and novices alike. We created more opportunities for people to connect with the medicine of the horse, and we watched as people transformed in front of our eyes, leaving the day with more confidence in themselves, and a heart more wide open.

2024 is when my life path changed again. This time, with the presence of a teacher. For years I had been praying for a mentor especially in herbal medicine. When I met mine, I knew it was time. After an intense screening process, tests, and initiations, he agreed to take me as his apprentice. We worked together on his goat farm, he taught me deeper levels of medicine making, and I gained many lessons and experiences working with the spiritual healings that come from the plants and working with people. Under his supervision, I began to increase my offerings of remedies, and began speaking at conferences, retreats, and events.

At the end of 2025, I decided that it was time to leave my roots in Oklahoma, and embrace a new terrain: one ancient in medicine. I moved to North Carolina which is one of the most ecologically diverse places in the entire U.S. I am starting over in many ways with so many plants to learn, but with 10 years of experience and knowledge under my belt to support me. I am excited to be apart of the community here. Working to grow, learn, and share with others as I did in Oklahoma.
